Swaziland and AIDS
Compared to most countries on the world map, the Kingdom of Swaziland is so microscopic it is barely visible. Nestled in the highveld region between South Africa and Mozambique, the kingdom is a symbol of everything that has gone wrong and continues to go wrong in Sub-Saharan Africa. While this country could be known for its exotic animals and some of the friendliest people on earth, it has tragically become known for something much more sinister. Swaziland has the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the world. Four out of 10 Swazis are infected and will most likely die from the virus. I went there with the hopes of raising awareness for a country and a region silently being ravaged by this pandemic while the world's eyes avoid looking at it. While literally a trillion dollars is projected to be spent on the Iraq War of dubious intentions and sub-par results, for one dollar a day, these 4 out of 10 infected Swazis can receive treatment and live a full life. In honor of the 4 out of 10 Swazis affected with HIV/AIDS, I made 4 videos from the Kingdom of Swaziland.
